Information gateway on Scottish moorland is now open Print E-mail
Monday, 16 June 2008
On 17th June, the Scottish Countryside Alliance Educational Trust will unveil a new source of information about managed moorland in Scotland.  The website is aimed at policy makers, at journalists, at students and teachers – at anyone with an interest in looking after one of Scotland’s most precious natural assets.  MoorlandScotland.org.uk will be launched at a reception in the Scottish Parliament, hosted by John Lamont MSP. MSPs and researchers from each political party, and representatives from many rural organisations will be present.   “Until now, it has been very difficult to find out what you need to know from one source”, said Nicola Chalmers Watson, Director of the SCAET.  “We have pulled together the most important and up to date research studies and moorland related news stories on one website, along with links to all of the organisations involved in moorland management.  This will complement the work of bodies like Scotland’s Moorland Forum and Government agencies, but the perspective will be that of the people involved on the ground looking after Scotland’s moorland on a daily basis.  We hope that this will be of real value to anyone studying the subject or involved in policy making.”
