The Scottish National Angling Programme (SNAP) has moved on in leaps and bounds since our last update and, although its aims remain the same, it is evolving to meet its objectives in such innovative and practical ways.
SNAP continues to make great progress with the establishment of induction centres around Scotland. The role of the induction centre is that it becomes the centre of angling development in a particular area with a cluster of partners growing round them, i.e. schools, angling clubs, community police and wardens, colleges, local authority sports divisions and education departments. North Highland College has just agreed to come on board as an induction centre in Thurso to cover the far north of Scotland and we are presently in discussions with the Rothiemurchus centre in the Highland region, hopefully, taking the overall number of induction centres in Scotland to 17. If you haven’t already done so check out www.thecastaways.org.uk, our website for young anglers. This website will give you lots of information on how to obtain affordable fishing, tackle, and clothing, as well as advice on angling and its related skills. It is also continuing to look for fun and interesting stories. If you would like to sign up as a member or contribute anything you have encountered whilst out fishing, please e-mail:
